Forklift Entrapment Drill--6/14/11

On Tuesday, June 14th, Belton firefighters received a call of a subject trapped underneath a large forklift.  While fire department personnel responded quickly to the scene, this was all for practice.  With the cooperation of Hydro Aluminum, Belton and Friendship firefighters took part in a very challenging practical drill in rescuing a victim pinned beneath a forklift.  High pressure airbags and cribbing was used to lift the forklift and free the victim.  This drill has never been performed here in Belton and firefighters were grateful to be given the chance to test their skills in such a tough scenario.  Thanks to Danny Hogg and other Hydro officials this would not have been possible.  This is the third drill completed at Hydro in the last year and a half, and future drills are already in the planning stage.
