Strong Storms Cause Damage in Belton

Strong storms blew through Belton last night causing extensive damage throughout town.  Calls started to pour in just before 1:00am as heavy rain, hail and strong winds wreaked havoc on trees, power lines, and buildings.  Belton units were forced to clear debris from front of the station so apparatus could respond.  Some of the heaviest damage present was in the Brown Ave. area as several homes were heavily damaged when trees fell on them.  Strong winds also caused the awning and parapet wall to collapse at Maynards Home Furnishings.  Thankfully no injuries were reported as Belton firefighters spent the entire night with police and utility companies making sure the citizens were safe.
