Structure Fire--Skyland Dr.
Just after 6am Saturday morning, July 16, Belton firefighters received a call to assist Anderson County Fire on a structure fire just outside the city in the 200 block of Sykland Dr. Engine 2 responded and arrived first to find a single story residential with fire venting from the D side. Handlines were pulled as Lt. Riddle and FF Vaughn made a push on the fire. Lt. Stevens completed a primary search while Engineer Norris and Capt. Elgin from Rock Springs performed vertical ventilation to aid interior crews. The fire was quickly brought under control and additional firefighters assisted with salvage and overhaul. The home suffered severe damage to two rooms and part of the hallway. The occupants were at home at the time and escaped without injury. Investigators were called to the scene to assist with determining the origin of the fire. The fire is still under investigation.
