Heavy Highway Rescue Training

This past weekend, four BFD members made the trip to Cowpens to take part in Heavy Highway Rescue training.  The training was provided by Progressive Fire/Rescue Training and Paratech equipment and was organized by the Cowpens Fire Dept.  Engineer Kevin Alewine, Engineer Brady Norris, Firefighter Matt Floyd, and Captain Brad Maness spent the two days learning how to stabilize, lift and move large vehicles that may become involved in auto accidents.  Students used airbags, struts, cribbing and various other tools on a tractor trailer, school bus, car hauler and large construction equipment.  This training will provide our department with more skills and knowledge to safely mitigate large vehicle incidents in our county.
