SC Fire Chief's Conference

Chief Alan Sims of our own Belton Fire Department hosted the annual state fire chief's conference October 19-23.  Chief Sims became the incoming President of the association.  The event was held in Anderson and drew a large crowd of fire department officials from across the state.  The week kicked off with a tour of the West End Zone in Clemson's Death Valley and was followed by an early arrival supper at Anderson Fire Dept.  The opening ceremonies and memorial service was held Thursday morning where Mayor Rufus Callaham and Adminstrator Michelle Ricketson shared some kind words about the fire service and later on the Buddy Hagood Golf Tournament was held at Brookstone Meadows.  Our BFD team took home third place.  Friday and Saturday made way for seminars and business meetings as well as many opportunities for networking.  Chief Sims did an outstanding job organizing the conference with help from many others.  Huge thanks to Jill Sims in organizing a great week for our ladies as well.  And also thanks to Luke Riddle and the CTC students for their help each day.
