On Tuesday morning, February 7th, Belton firefighters answered the call to assist Friendship Fire department on a gasoline tanker truck accident and fire. The incident occurred on Shady Grove Rd. just near Vaughn Rd. and Holiday Dam Rd. Belton Engine 2 and personnel provided water supply and manpower to the burning tanker truck. Several Anderson County units, Honea Path and Abbeville Co, and the Hazardous Materials Team assisted in extinguishing the fire with foam. It was estimated that the truck was near capacity around 8,000 gallons during the time of the accident. Crews remained on the scene well into the evening to assist in removing the product and truck.
