On Saturday, December 8th, Belton firefighters and explorers were joined by many of our elected officials to take part in our annual Christmas and Awards Banquet. Chief Sims reflected upon the past year and mentioned many of the accomplishments of our members. During 2012 our department has responded to over 800 calls (as of now) and logged over 4,000 documented training hours. We took part in several drills at our local businesses and hosted many multi-jurisdictional trainings. Unfortunately we did have a fire fatality and an MVA fatality during the year, but with the help of our dedicated membership and the support from City Council and other departments we strive to improve our service in 2013. At Belton, we consider all of our firefighters as "members of the year" but we paused to recognize a few that really stood out in 2012.
